We were going to Disney for Spring Break. We had the hotel booked, the meals reserved, the magic bands in hand. We had our Fast Passes reserved and were talking through the roller coasters and agendas, and savoring in the adventure of planning the dream trip for our 3 kiddos (and for us, let’s be honest).
And we didn’t go. And we didn’t go anywhere. For weeks and weeks and months and months. But just because plans change does not mean that we can’t take parts of those plans and make them real.
We made dole whips. We cooked a luau themed dinner to remember the one we weren’t attending in Orlando. We did Disney Movie Nights as a family, and we are planning another, yet to be scheduled, trip.
What were you looking forward to in your cancelled plans? Is there any way to bring a bit of that anticipation back to life? Blow on the dying ember of your excitement and create a small celebration right here at home?
It’s time. It’s time to crack open the expensive bottle of wine you have been saving and toast yourself for making it this far into 2020. It’s time to have a candlelit dinner at the kitchen table with your fancy dress on. It’s time to buy a plastic kiddie pool from Cloverdale Ace Hardware, blast some Jimmie Buffett, and get that golden tan.
What ideas do you have to bring your best vacation memories and experiences home to celebrate?
