I have 3 kids underfoot at all times. One of their FAVORITE things to do is ‘research.’ This is basically a fancy term for coming up with a question as an oppotunity to watch a YouTube video about it. Recently we have researched soap bubbles, quartz crystals, whether lava can explode a house, why fingernails grow, and why mud makes clay. And that’s just what I remember!
Although I am wise to their little con, I still let them research- because curiosity feeds passion. It makes us sharper, more aware of the world around us, and more willing to engage with the world even outside our thoughts.
Are you feeling blah? World filled with meh? Time to get curious. Engage with questions you have wondered in passing. Dive deep into subjects that capture your imagination. Reengage with positions you think you have your mind made up about, and really try to understand the other side’s point of view. Every day is an invitation to grow. What’s your RSVP?
Comment the coolest fact you have learned lately below!
That, Marissa, is what we call a lifelong learner. You are facilitating that development in your children and by inviting adults to research their world you are uncovering that learner in them. Great post!! Thank you!
